Observations

Ha, I am victorious!  It took some doing though.  Maybe I’ll make a bookmarklet out of it or something.  Bottom line being, they’re pretty damn stubborn and do a lot of Javascript to make things work, but they still only check newlines client-side.  Silly Tumblr.  Everyone knows client-side validation should be backed up by server-side validation.  Length restrictions, however, are enforced server-side, so no go there.  I checked.

Also, you can ask yourself questions.  I find that amusing, but useful.
