The Winged Boy
Shadow wings erupt from his ears, no, from
his neck. The branches arc skyward and his arms
dangle like leaves. When he whirls, hemlines fling
towards heaven; eyeballs are skewered
like marshmallows and drip down to his blue shoes
until the summer sun burns them black.
