phren-Z’s 3rd Annual Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Contest Closes Soon

The phren-Z magazine 3nd Annual Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Contest closes soon. This year’s contest judge is Christopher Buckley.

Poets are invited to submit up to three unpublished poems, each poem no longer than five pages.  See full guidelines here.

Prize: $1,000 and publication

Fee: $15

Deadline: September 1, 2014

The 3nd Annual Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Contest is dedicated to the memory of Santa Cruz Poet Morton Marcus, whose life and work inspired the writing of many students, friends, and emerging poets. All poets nationally and internationally over 18 are eligible to submit their poetry.

A $1,000 Prize will be awarded to the selected winner. The winning poem will be published in phren-Z’s Fall 2014 issue and read at the Fifth Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Reading in November at Cabrillo College.
