I’ve seen a lot of ire aimed at the DC reboot / relaunch thingy in regard to the absence of married couples doing the heroic daring do - that daring heroes do day to day in the saga of the never ending battle.
Well you know what I mean.
I then started to think about it, how many franchises, films, television, and so on hinge on a married couple - and not the journey to the happy day, when the story ends with and they lived happily ever after….
Situation comedy and it’s closely related cousin the Soap Opera feature a number of power couples. I mean I love Lucy reigns on doesn’t it?
But outside of heroes like Dr Huxtable and Pop Walton where are the spandex family success stories?
Indeed the action drama that successfully featured a married couple I’m struggling to think of one. Except the exception - above - that proves the rule.
Way back there was Heart to Heart, but a recent attempt at a Super Hero family - Ordinary Family didn’t get picked up for a second season.
Yet Moonlighting to Castle and Bones, all hinge on the will they won’t they premise. Where the dashing but flawed hero chases the successful and feisty female.
Chuck has survived - just - the transition from “will they - won’t they” to “I do”, dodging the Nielson Numbers Axe as the ratings fell back from the early success.
Both Bond and Bauer got married to have that happily ever after ended by a bullet from a baddie.
So can you think of exceptions?
