War Dogs (dir. Todd Phillips).
The true story of Miami bros, played by an earnest Miles Teller and broad Jonah Hill, faking it in the arms dealing industry all the way to the U.S. government is a stylish but hollow and sophomoric takedown on the corruption of the American dream.
Phillips continues to prove his technical abilities as a filmmaker balancing sequences of action, comedy, and drama but falls short in combining all the disparate elements together. War Dogs feels like an enjoyable but tamer, remixed version of The Wolf of Wall Street and Pain & Gain without any of the bite.
