Mulholland Drive (dir. David Lynch).
Lynch crafts a hauntingly beautiful and mysterious portrait of ambition and heartbreak using vivid dream imagery. It’s a film noir told in different parts with clues to its true nature, working on multiple levels of storytelling narrative. Characters represent archetypes and ideals as they are revealed to have richer thematic depth and nuance.
