Katy Evans in the Hot Seat (with Ripped exclusive)

Whilst we’re in Seattle we were lucky enough to grab a few moments with Katy Evans and ask her some important questions about the Real series and grab an exclusive from Ripped, coming later this year!

Where did the ideas for Remy and Brooke come from? Where they inspired by anyone? Did you have to go to any underground boxing matches?

It all started with one character wanting something pretty badly, and that was Remy. He slipped into my head when I read a book about genetics and was fascinated by the phenomenon of the eye-color change that Remy experiences sometimes. From that moment on, he just took form in a couple of days to form. I got the title for Real based on what he wanted, and I discovered Brooke through him because she happened to be what he wanted. It all took off from there!

No, I created the Underground in the Real series all for myself, but I do box a little bit.

If there was a film made of Real, do you have anyone in mind for the perfect Remy?

There have been so many actors mentioned among my fans. Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum, Tom Hardy. I also suspect maybe there’s an exact physical copy of Remy out there just waiting to be discovered for his movie. Blue eyes, dimples, spiky hair…:-)

Rogue has just published in the UK! What made you decide to tell Melanie and Greyson’s story?

I always wanted to know more about Melanie. She was Brooke’s best friend but also always a lively, funny character who intrigued me. I wanted to know more, and I’m glad I took the shovel out and started to dig, because there’s so much more to her than meets the eye. She became a real person to me through the writing of Rogue, with dreams, fears, longings, pain. Greyson, on the other hand, wasn’t my initial hero. I had a complete book finished where Greyson ends up on the wrong end of the love triangle and I was miserable. I had to call the awesome Adam Wilson at Gallery Books US and ask him to give me more time to rewrite Rogue because I had given Melanie to the wrong hero—from then on Greyson took charge and I loved every minute!

What do you have planned after Ripped, which is publishing in December this year?

I’m working on an amazing super secret project I hope to be revealing the details of very soon!

And finally, what was the last Indie (or New Adult) book you read that completely blew you away?

I love Indie and New Adult books. My last read was the funny, sexy Tamed by my Gallery Books sister, the lovely Emma Chase. Loved it!

Thanks so much to Katy Evans for chatting with us, we can’t wait to find out more about the super secret project! And here’s what you’ve all been waiting for, the exclusive from Ripped:
