I’m excited about the show because it’s a very hopeful show. It’s not about murder, and it’s not about crime, and it’s not people looking into their own belly buttons. It’s about people who are trying to help each other, and that’s one of the things I loved about comic books. They had costumes and the villains were cool [but] they stood for something, and I like doing a show that does that.

Joss Whedon wrote a thank you note to all of his “peeps” on Whedonesque and if you’re a Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Dr. Horrible/Avengers/Dollhouse (what, there are a few of us!) fan, it’s a must read.
BUT, we do have to point out, that if he were to ever make a sequel to Air Bud, we all know what would happen to the poor eponymous dog in that film: The first ever Jai Alai fatality.
Joss Whedon has signed to write and direct “The Avengers 2,” Disney Chairman Bob Iger said Tuesday.
In addition, Whedon will create a “Marvel-based” series for ABC, Iger said during a conference call with analysts. Whedon wrote and slid behind the camera on “The Avengers,” which Iger called a “phenomenal success” during the call.
The adaptation of the Marvel Comics series has grossed nearly $1.5 billion worldwide.

After playing Agent Coulson in several Marvel films, actor Clark Gregg got the call that he would be “a big part” of The Avengers:
It’s what happens to you that brings The Avengers together.
Uh oh. With that call, Gregg knew he’d have some time on his hands and decided to “make his own break” by writing and directing Trust Me, a neo-noir set in the child talent agency world that made its premiere at Tribeca Film Festival this past week.
His second time as writer and director (his first being 2008’s adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Choke), Gregg became fascinated with the ruthless business behind child actors when he moved to LA a few years ago. “It’s kind of like they’re baseball cards, except they’re 9 and 10 year-olds,” he said, explaining that agents would often collect talent and only need one breakout star to move from an office in a single car garage (a detail borrowed from reality) to Hollywood power-broker. In Trust Me, Gregg plays such an agent. Howard, a former child star with a kind heart and bum luck, accidentally discovers a girl with such tremendous talent he’s not sure whether she’s playing herself or him. What he is sure of, however, is that she’s his meal ticket to the big-time, and any reservations he may have about her are thrown out the window of his beat up old car when she lands a big part in a Twilight-style franchise.
Gregg recruited an all-star cast from his time at The Atlantic Theater Company (Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy), as well as friends and past colleagues (Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney, Molly Shannon and Amanda Peet) for the film. In addition to these heavy-hitters, he struck gold with his young star Saxon Sharbino, who steals the movie with her breakout performance as the wise-beyond-her-13 years Lydia.
An enjoyable indie, Trust Me mixes sly comedy with noir elements that are largely successful. The part Lydia is up for in the Twilight knockoff is a little too on the nose, broadcasting the theme of the movie in big capital letters and leading to Gregg’s favorite (and my least favorite) moment, which I won’t spoil. But Trust Me largely works and gives the viewer a fascinating glimpse behind the curtain that leads so many young stars to the devastating real-life drama we consume as tabloid entertainment after we’ve otherwise discarded them.
