Part of me feels like his touchy-feely comfort with her only works if he ISN’T feeling sexual desire for her. In the bridal carry he doesn’t display one iota of conflict - I just can’t see him being aware of sexual motives and remaining that chill

Yeah, totally. TOTALLY. I never felt like the touching was sexual. It felt to me like he was just realizing that he could touch someone to express affection and it was so amazing and new that he was trying to figure it out and explore the degree to which he could. Because like. Some before that but never ever to that degree.

You know healthy physical contact was a completely alien idea to him prior to TF. Because he does more and more of it as the seasons progress but nothing like what we see in Alone. 

And you can also explain it with the idea that sexual desire is there but just so buried by a lifetime of trauma that it’s only then beginning to emerge a tiny tiny tiny bit and he doesn’t understand what he’s feeling but yeah.
