The Results of The 2nd Annual I’d Like To Beat The Academy Contest
Written by: Ben
So another Academy Awards have come and gone…like 2 weeks ago, but that means another I’d Like To Beat The Academy Contest has come and gone as well. Yeah, we’re really delayed, but life sometimes gets in the way, but I won’t bore you with those details now. Instead, there are winners to congratulate! So follow us after the jump for the contest recap and the winner announcements.
First off I do want to thank everyone who entered, we had a stellar turnout of 12 entries, which considering our sporadic posting and general traffic for the site is a really great amount. We’d be really happy if only like 5 people entered, none the less if they did half as well as most of you all did so congrats to everyone who entered. If you’re interested, Google Docs actually made a really cool graphical summary of all the entries through the form (11 out of the 12 entries) and you can see that breakdown here.
But now on to what I’m sure most of you want to know about, the winners:
First place went to David Volpov! Davidtied Garrett and myself with 6 correct picks and as such earned himself the 3D Bluray version of the 75th Anniversary release of The Wizard of Oz
When it comes to second place, I need to say that while the rules did state you had to beat or tie us to win, only one person actually did, but 3 people tied one short of doing so. Since we had two prizes and we like giving them out, we used a randomizer to select one of those 3 to get second place and the actual prize. All 3 of you that tied (Edward McCabe, Aaron Moore and Nick Britt) got 5 correct picks and really should be proud of your knowledge. But the can only be one winner and that person is Aaron Moore! Aaron has won the men’s medium t-shirt from the movie Her directed by Spike Jonze.
I have emailed both of our winners to congratulate them and to get their shipping information so I can send them their prizes. As soon as I hear back form them those will go out. Otherwise, thank you once more to all that entered and who continue to read our posts here. We hope to have a lot more for you in the future in regards to content and possibly even more contests to further show our appreciation for you all ;)
