Jeet Kune Do: Parry Technique

This technique is one of the most simple to perform it is a open hand move that targets striking with a palm or backhand.  There’s seven ways to use this the first is the vertical backhand which is the same as the vertical front hand you wave your forearm to knock aside a strike.  The third is diagonal downward which is making a vertical forearm come towards your chest and from there you can bring it back up in the same direction for a similar parry.  

The fifth is bringing the palm`of your hand downward past your stomach to swat away a low punch or side and straight-kick.  The sixth is done diagonally with the palm of your hand going upward past your chest.  The last one is done by bringing your hand forward and using your palm to slap down a hand strike.  

Parries must be practiced against single and combination strikes no matter what position your in.  The easiest strikes to defend with this move are straight attacks or just hand attacks.  The one thing, i don’t recommend is using this against spinning and roundhouse-kicks also don’t reach for low kicks.
