This is a personal project which I started in February after rabidly purchasing the 1:48 Finemolds’ kit the moment I had finished watching Porco Rosso for the first time.

It was slow as I worked on it as a back-burner project, it wasn’t until June that I actually completed the whole thing and only today that I could be bothered to take the final photos.
The kit is superb, fitted together like a dream. I was pleasantly surprised to see Gina included, but because I wanted to portray a very specific scene, I totally resculpted her with Milliput so that she would be wearing accurate clothes.
The base is teak, with the balcony being made from MDF coated in Polyfilla, and the sea done with clear silicone sealant. I used the decals which came with the kit for the plaque
