DEV, a US Venture Capital Firm, Expands to Korea and Hosts Global VC Seminar

(Seoul) February 10, 2014 – DEV, a US venture capital firm, is scheduled to visit Korea to commemorate the establishment of DEV’s Korea office (DEV Korea) and hold a seminar titled “Global VC Trends and Strategies on February 24, 2014 (Mon.) at Bulls Hall of Korea Financial Investment Association, located in Seoul. 

Various experts, including a US venture specialist, US attorneys specializing in venture capital and fund valuation specialists, necessary to cultivate successful venture companies, will present in this global VC seminar. 

In particular, the presenters of the seminar will include Alan McGlade and Damian Manning.  McGlade, a venture capitalist, as well as a management specialist, has previously served as the CEO of MediaNet and an executive at MTV.  He has both founded and discovered a number of venture companies in the US and has successfully developed, fostered and exited venture companies through various methods, including M&A with global companies, NASDAQ listing and IPO.  McGlade and Manning, a technologist and a venture capitalist, will share their experience and knowledge regarding the US VC industry during the seminar. 

DEV’s McGlade has served as the CEO and an executive of numerous media-related corporations, including MTV, and is expected to present on the topic of trends that are driving new business opportunities, based on his extensive digital media experience.  McGlade has also appeared on CNN Business and CNBC, and has recently contributed an article on Forbes.com regarding Korea’s venture company potentials (“Why South Korea will be the Next Global Hub for Tech Startups”).  As a venture capitalist with special affection for Korea’s venture companies, McGlade is expected to provide a myriad of assistance to Korean venture companies with an eye toward global expansion. 

Damian Manning, the founder and CEO of Hifi and a venture partner of DEV, has more than 20 years of technological background and has built the first global B2B eCommerce platform.  Based on his experience in founding and exiting various venture companies, Manning will present on a case history of a US startup. 

During this seminar, DEV will also introduce the “One World Venture Program” created for the global expansion of Korean venture companies with DEV Korea as the locus.  “One World Venture Program” is a customizable venture program aimed at synergistically interconnecting existing US portfolio companies with Korean venture and startup companies, to achieve both globalization and localization of innovative venture companies.  To do so, DEV’s venture capital experts will personally identify and select Korean venture and startup companies, invest in and guide them to global standards. 

This seminar titled “Global VC Trends and Strategies” will be hosted by DEV Korea and sponsored by FnGuide/FnV Partners.  There will also be a Q&A session, and thus, this event is expected to play a role as a hub for the exchange of venture capital information between Korean venture capitalists, venture companies and US venture capitalists.
