Trying out MyTailor.com

I found out that one of the MyTailor.com team was coming to visit Chicagoland this month (Feb. 15-21). I’ve been having a helluva time trying to find a bright-red gingham shirt with large checks anywhere these days, and the price is certainly right with MyTailor for a two-ply superfine broadcloth shirt ($79).

While you can enter your own measurements and order that way, I figure it’d be better to meet with a tailor and specifically detail what kind of fit I’m looking for out of the shirt and be professionally measured. Also, I’m told he’ll be carrying all of his fabric swatch books with him as well, so that’s a bonus.

I’ll be documenting the process as much as I can throughout. I’ll be the first to admit I know very little about shirt construction, fabrics, etc., so it’ll likely be compared to prior off-the-rack shirts I’ve bought.

If anyone else has tried MyTailor, then let me know your experience.
