Was that your Hardy Amies tie in your last WIWT? I actually really like the white - I believe I am rethinking my position. I think because I was a teenager in the 1980s that I have written off some things that I need to ponder again...white jeans, tapered legs, etc. I wonder if I can find those old white Guess jeans. Nice look - one of my favorites on you.

Thank you! It’s actually a similarly sized (in width) silk tie from Hugo Boss that I picked up absurdly cheap at Nordstrom Rack. I was actually debating between the two in the morning, but went with the silk since the jacket was linen.

I think that white jeans are making a bit of a comeback, fashionwise, at the moment (well, at least in terms of the menswear blogosphere that I’ve seen). In terms of old trends becoming hip again, washed denim also is being seen more often.

I think the nice thing about both of those is that it allows you to wear denim with jackets that might not look so great with regular dark denim. As someone who owns a lot of dark navy blazers and sport coats, I just don’t like the look of a dark-rinse denim jean paired with a navy jacket. I feel like you need color separation, which is where white/faded/etc. colored jeans come in and fill a niche.

Keeping them clean though: pain in the ass.
