Yeeeea that 90% is highly suspect, but even so, the problem isn’t just the lazy racist “humor”, it’s that this is being normalized amongst a primarily teenage audience. I worry what kind of adults these kids will turn into. It won’t be funny when they use these stereotypes to devalue the lives of POC and uphold our oppression. They’re “just jokes” until we suffer the consequences.
When part of your defence for using racist terms and stereotypes is “my audience is mostly minorities” or “I have a black friend who says it’s okay” then you’re completely unaware and ignorant of just how racist you really are.
