Faith Versus Fact: Why Science and Religion Are Incompatible

One thing should always be made clear; the Bible is not a book of science.  It is a book that can be used for historical context especially with regard to societal norms of the time.  Reading through it, there are many examples of how society changed, especially from the time of Moses to the time of Christ.  Laws changed as well.  New rules were put in place.  At it’s core, the “moral high ground” many point to in the Bible contradicts itself over and over.  Even the Church of England said the Bible was merely a road map to a good life that was filled with metaphors.

The only correlation the Bible has to science is that when Charles Darwin made his discoveries and wrote his papers on evolution, the Church of England stated that the theory of evolution was an excellent document that explained quite well the plan God had for all life on Earth.  The Church of England never denounced Darwin’s work at all.  What they couldn’t wrap their head around wasn’t that humans and apes have a common ancestor, it was the fact that Darwin wrote that nature is inherently cruel.
