I-CON Roundup Part 2: Doctor Who 1996 TV Movie Reunion & Sunday Megapanel

(Part 1 of the I-CON roundup if you missed it)

On Saturday, Paul McGann (the Eighth Doctor) and Daphne Ashbrook (companion Grace Holloway) reunited to discuss the 1996 TV movie. This was a rare opportunity for fans to get their questions about the film answered. Although the movie failed in the short term to drum up interest in the US for Doctor Who, it was key in the 2005 relaunch of the series. McGann and Ashbrook were unable to answer if they were scheduled to return to Doctor Who for the 50th anniversary special next year. However, they suggested fans petition the BBC to make it happen.

All of the Doctor Who guests came together for a megapanel on Sunday. The panelists shared their favorite filming memories as well as their experiences at various conventions. The panel came to a close in a dramatic fashion when Paul McGann recited the First Doctor’s most famous lines of dialogue: “One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.”  (Quote source)
