Bunheads- “Better Luck Next Year”
We were Bunhead-less last week, but our favorite summer dialogue is back! Michelle is moving into the guest house…with all of her unwanted crap from Vegas. Her former landlord just shipped her everything that was in it, including a grandfather clock. (“Hello grandfather!”) Fanny is getting ready to spruce her studio up for the dreaded Joffrey auditions (whom I think is run by Game of Thrones’ Joffrey because they just sound evil). Fanny wants Michelle to pull a Copperfield and make it all disappear. (A Vegas reference!)
Unfortunately, Joffrey called off having the auditions there for a much nicer studio in Ohi, a town 30 miles away. Fanny refuses to go there, or any other town it seems. Michelle stops by the town hardware store and tries seducing them into paying them later. She fails horribly. Later in the episode, Fanny picks up a guy (that just showed up in the car, or maybe I was dreaming),who will fix up the floors with a I.O.U. and using her womanliness. The Joffrey people change their mind and have the auditions at Fanny’s.
In ballerina world, we only deal with Boo and Sasha. Boo sort of stood up for Sasha’s bitchiness, and I think Sasha realizes that. She’s being nicer to Boo, but is being brushed off. She is just focused on nailing her audition. She is also put down a bit by her mother (who seemed to have a great relationship) when she discovers a cake in her fridge with the message, “Better Luck Next Year!” written in bright yellow, before her audition. (Ouch. Exclamation point!) Boo’s pair of ballet slippers snap after only 2 months, and fears her mother won’t buy her a new pair. Sasha takes money from her mother so she can have them. She tells her her father bought her the wrong size, so she can use them. (Seems like Sasha grabbed a 50. Is that how much they cost? Oi.)
After going through the audition, Boo doesn’t make it. Fanny tells one of the girls to get the ‘box’ of wigs and other items. She makes her go back into the audition with different colored wigs and fake names. Still, Irina and Selma didn’t make it, but they tell her to come back next year. Sasha makes it, but Boo still waits for her to fill out her paperwork. BFFs for life!
From what I gathered from next week’s clip, there is some long haired shirtless man with a delivery? Maybe a love interest for Michelle? Can I get a Hey Now?
