Dream Emmy Noms: “Too Bad, Diane! Your Dream Nominees Never Win!” Comedy Edition

Lead Actress In A Comedy Series:
Zooey Deschanel- New Girl
Amy Poehler- Parks and Recreation
Lena Dunham- Girls
Courtney Cox- Cougar Town.
Martha Plimpton- Raising Hope
I don’t even know if it’s an unpopular or popular opinion anymore to like Zooey Deschanel’s, Jess Day, but I do. I love the New Girl, it’s one of the best new comedies of the season, it might not always be on point and sometimes the quirk is a little too much but Zooey is consistant through out. I’ll actually be surprised if she doesn’t get a real nomination. Amy Poehler deserves all of the awards because she took Leslie, a deeply flawed and easily unlikeable character to someone so cute you can’t help but love them, I guess the same can go for Dunham, it’s easy to blame Hannah for everything, I connect with Hannah and I’m not sure I like it mostly because she is SAD. Dunham’s dry humor and self deprecation make Hannah stand out as a character in the comedies this season, she’s the every girl, if the every girl was an awkward twenty something who is a few pounds over weight. Courtney Cox just needs an Emmy already, I don’t understand how she never got nominated for Monica, she was the funniest through out the whole series and of course Martha Plimpton is one of the shining stars of any episode of Raising Hope, good or bad.

Here’s the thing: Joel McHale deserves an Emmy for his work as Jeff. I don’t care that the Emmy's consistently seem to snub community and keep adding shows that ARE NOT comedies (sorry Glee) into the category, it’s fine, whatever, but Jeff Winger is a douche, but you laugh with him and don’t feel bad about it, that’s all thanks to Joel. Louie is self explanatory, I went to a show of his once and he said “Goodbye Jews!” loved him ever since. Up All Night had its moments but one things is for sure, Will was just as funny as Chris as he was as GOB. I’ve been waiting for Jeremy Sisto to do a comedy since Clueless and he’s still funny after all of these years, if you don’t believe me just watch the Halloween episode where he scares Dallas over and over, and if you can keep up the beats with Cheryl Hines, you are gold in my book. Okay, if Jennifer Anniston can say she was a lead actress in an ensemble show than so can Nick Kroll, minus the actress part, the last few seasons of the League all of the best moments belong to jerk face mc asshole Ruxin and that’s all thanks to Nick Kroll.

Molly Tarlov- Awkward
Eliza Coupe- Happy Endings
Anna Chlumsky- Veep
Cheryl Hines- Suburgatory
Gillian Jacobs- Community
Every show has that character you could hate, you should hate, and you need to hate. I realized I clumped all of these women together because they are so easy to be annoyed by at some point. Sadie is the biggest bully in school, Jane always wants to win, Amy is so insecure you sometimes wanna slap, Dallas is insane and trying too hard to be the cool mom, and Britta is weird and screws everything up. Each of these ladies makes these girls enjoyable though, they make you laugh and wanna punch the wall at the same time. It takes a strong actress, with great comedic deliver to make it believable.

I would have nominated other people but I physically can’t. Max Greenfield deserves a freaking Emmy right now, just give it to him. His work as Schmidt was HILARIOUS all season long, and not only that he gives us some extra outside of the show stuff too, like dancing around in his fat suit to Rihanna. WE BUILT THIS SCHMIDTY ON TOOTSIE ROLLS!! Who knew Deputy Leo could be so damn funny?

Each of these shows are the underdog, they stand behind other shows that are similar that are considered “outstanding” but aren’t really all that great. Community vs Big Bang Theory, Awkward vs Glee and so on and so fourth.. I picked them because they are funny each and every episode but will always get over looked for one reason or another.

There you have it folks, my picks for the Emmy’s and since I can’t have nice the real Emmy’s will look nothing like mine and I’ll slowly cry in the corner while watching the same people will win over and over again.
