The L.A. Complex- “Choose Your Battles”

Sometimes, we need to pick out own fights. Life may lead us in many different directions. What you or someone else may have planned out for you won’t always work. Things change, people change. Most of the cast in tonight’s episode lead them into new directions, or a poolside chair with a blanket.

Kal, the star of the show (in my opinion) is back in the studio laying down new tracks. The lyrics of his song seem to delve into Kal’s past with Tariq, but no one needs to know that. I’m sure most of his audience wouldn’t be looking for meaning in his songs. Writing about someone can be therapeutic in a way, but not for Kal. He still sees mirages of Tariq all over the studio and press interviews. (When is Tariq coming back, DAMNIT?) Kal freaks out in the studio, and isn’t ready the finish his work yet. He wants some time to himself, but his producer throws a big (afternoon) party so Kal can ‘get away’. Kal is on watch now cause of the whole suicide thing, and he needs to leave his rap scene right now. Earlier on a radio interview, their seemed to be a crank call from a religious authority. The end of the episode, Kal goes down to that place asking for Walter, his father.

Abby and Nick’s relationship is going down the toilet, they are both so busy trying to keep their jobs they barely have time for each other. Abby stayed out late last week, and Nick is still upset over it. He tries to talk about it again the next morning, but Abby is running late, the usual!  Abby should have been doing more talking, but no time! She must be the White rabbit or something! Nick is a good guy-but he does a lot of stupid things. He tells Sabrina he’d be interested in her in there were no Abby. She continues to play games with him because she knows what makes him tick. She left him at the drive-thru parking lot by taking his car and him having to walk the rest of the way with no phone or money. He comes back all whiny and the other writers tell him not to tattle. Nick needs to realize he’s not a child and grow a pair. Life is not fair, and it never will be. You sometimes have to play dirty to make it show business. We’ll see if he succeeds next week. (I’m voting failure.) Abby decides that her and Nick moved too fast, and suggests to get her own room.

Connor gets Raquel a guest spot on his sexy Grey’s Anatomy-like show. She seemed like she would have broke down and told him about their baby, but contract girlfriend Jennifer ruins the day! I feel like the public will find out and ruin the whole Connor/Jennifer relationship. I see Raquel pulling a Britney, becoming in the paparazzi eye, minus the shaving head. She felt some sort of contraction, but urges Abby she’s ok. (Manny Santos is not convinced.)

Random Remarks:

-Kal’s rap battle was pretty epic, against the Infinite Jester? ( Get it? KING AND JESTER?)

-Abby open mouth kissed her co-star, which is a no-no on this show. Alan Thicke shakes his head in shame.

-If they cast Alan Thicke specifically to secretly poke fun at Kirk Cameron, then that is just genius.

-Beth and Simon are still trying to get some auditions without an agent. Even impersonating an agent still didn’t get them the cut.
