When someone tells you, โ€œI love you,โ€ and then you feel, โ€œOh, I must be worthy after all,โ€ thatโ€™s an illusion. Thatโ€™s not true. Or someone says, โ€œI hate you,โ€ and you think, โ€œOh, God, I knew it; Iโ€™m not very worthy,โ€ thatโ€™s not true either. Neither one of these thoughts hold any intrinsic reality. They are an overlay. When someone says, โ€œI love you,โ€ he is telling you about himself, not you. When someone says, โ€œI hate you,โ€ she is telling you about herself, not you. World views are self viewsโ€”literally.
