rogue machines | bbc sherlock, the cyberpunk au

sherlock holmes is the only human debugger in the world, skirting the heart of the city, specially trained to pick out flaws in the grid that cyborgs cannot. certainly, he has been fine-tuned with the latest hardware, but what’s to be done when the unit lacks an off switch? cyborgs can be controlled, they say. you can’t predict a human. what they don’t know is that he’s never quite known if the electricity pumping through his veins belonged to one or the other.

he and ex-squadron doctor john watson form a companionship, traveling the streets crime has not yet forgotten.

but the moriarty glitch is silent, begins as patterns of numbers woven into the strand, an error that cannot be purged, a locked door swinging open. little does sherlock know that the grid isn’t the only network out there, and the glitch and he are more alike than they may seem…
