Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne, Sieur de Bienville. He “discovered” New Orleans for the French. A thief (even from his own King Louis XIV) and owner of 27 of the 1st 680 slaves imported to Louisiana, his namesake is all over the city, particularly on one of our biggest streets.
