Most of all, she loved resting her head against his chest and hearing the quiet thud of his heart.

“You are alive.” She said quietly, “and so am I.”

“And we are such small, insignificant things that in a hundred years no one will even remember our names.”

“But I am so grateful for this,” she said, “this nothingness, that may be of no consequence to the skies. And the universe will laugh at our invincibility but perhaps it is enough to leave fingerprints on just one person’s skin.”

“This nothingness is ours,” she said, “And that will always be enough for me.”
