At the rate Lykke Li is dropping all these tracks online, we’ll have already heard I Never Learn in its entirety. The latest song to be unveiled, ‘Gunshot,’ packs more of a punch in comparison to previous tracks ‘Love Me Like I’m Not Made Of Stone’ and ‘No Rest For The Wicked,’ with powerful synth hits and 80s-lite power pop vibe, Li’s trademark desperate and dark lyrics offset by the track’s rather hopeful, even uplifting overall sound.

One reviewer not so enthused with ‘Gunshot,’ however, is Jason Grishkoff from Indie Shuffle, who made the rather harsh observation that he had hoped for something ‘a little less suicidal,’ saying:

‘I’d be lying if I told you I was excited about Lykke Li’s upcoming album. So far everything has been lackluster, at best. “Gunshot” adds another notch to the rung of songs we’ve heard, presenting itself as flat, unexciting and still somewhat depressing.’

Either somebody hasn’t listened to a lot of Lykke Li before or he’s somewhat confused by the concept that songs, in their very nature, have the capacity to be quite emotional and solemn, thus having an even bigger impact on the listener. Apparently songs that make you feel all emotional and stuff like Lykke Li’s ‘Gunshot’ just can’t be, y’know, cheerful enough for Jason’s liking…

As the kids on the interwebs say with absolutely no regard for grammar, ‘kay but u rong doe.’ (lol, real mature…)
