You know one thing I love about this particular scene? Besides the Scarlett O'Hara realness on top?
I can believe that Beckett is only 32 years old. Obviously part of the reason Beckett and Castle are good for each other is because she acts older than her years and he acts younger than his years (whatever those are, exactly) but this was so nice, and it wasn’t just that she looked younger with the hair and without the heels but her mannerisms shifted and her voice was softer. And it’s still the same person. So only two episodes into season 5 there’s already been this huge spectrum with Beckett and it doesn’t feel inconsistent and out of character, which could have happened in the hands of an incapable actress. And usually I don’t like when someone is an entirely different person at work and home but with Beckett, I’m LOVING it.
