Burning in the Skies

I'm Jenn! I'm a very nerdy Psychology and Sociology graduate working in the medical field. I play a lot of games and am a Pokemon Trainer and an Eeveelution Gym Leader. In addition to writing, I draw, design, and take photos. I also really enjoy gaming, music (Linkin Park, especially), and makeup. So, in essence, this blog is all of that combined; I hope you enjoy your visit!

The good thing about me getting aggravated is that it gets me drawing. A good digital sketch accompanied by some good music usually calms the nerves.

I tried something different with this one, and I’m happy with how it came out. Usually I either just do a lineart and call it a day, or I draw and smudge the hell out of every aspect of the picture. With this one, I only erased if there was a line that was REALLY out of place. I didn’t smudge (except for when I edited it; I couldn’t get the blush right simply by using lines). If there was an aspect I didn’t like, I would simply draw over it until I was satisfied with it. Only the mouth and her right eye I had to select and move a tad; no erasing done there, though. I tend to get lazy when not working with the face, so sorry for the lack of detail with the jacket.

Honestly, the one piece of advice that I took out of the high school that I transferred to was one that my art teacher gave me. At the time, I honestly thought he just hated me and my artwork, but looking back on it, he was right. I have a “problem” with shading and darkening my images. He told me not to be afraid to darken and shade. You can always go darker. Honestly, I look back on my previous drawings and want to fix them up and make them darker. Like I have a poster sized mural of Mike Shinoda that I drew three years ago hanging up on my wall. Every time I look at it I want to just take it down and start shading. Moral being, don’t be afraid to go darker. Experiment with your drawings. The darker an image is, the more vivid it is, making it more realistic and captivating.

Anyways, I decided to draw this on a whim really. I was going to draw a guy, but for some reason I draw girls so much better. I was going to color it, but the more I got into it, the more I thought coloring it would ruin it. I’m getting better at this digital drawing stuff. I’m starting to like it a bit more than traditional drawing. Its scary.

By the way, +10 points for anyone that knows/knew who this is based on without having to look at the tags.
