Guns N’ Roses’ debut album ‘Appetite For Destruction’ truly lives up to the band name - the A side of the album (tracks 1 to 6) relates to the rough city life, drugs and violence (= guns), while the B side (tracks 7 to 12) is about women, sex and love (= roses).
To a lesser extent this can also be transferred on the ‘G N’ R Lies’ EP, with the first four songs all being played with electric guitars with a typical hardrock feeling (= guns) and the last four songs being all more or less soft sounding accoustic pieces (= roses).
The same pattern can be found on the ‘Use Your Illusion’ albums - the red and yellow ‘Use Your Illusion I’ with a harder sound and predominantly ‘guns’ related songs and the blue and violet ‘Use Your Illusion II’ with more piano sounds and modern influences as well as predominantly ‘roses’ related songs.
