GETTING OUR WAX ON!
Disk Jockeys doing nothing but pressing buttons on a computer, vinyl going out of fashion for the convenience of mp3’s and todays music being more accessible than ever. Its the sad unfortunate end to a golden era but the start of a new one. It seems to becoming more of an “exclusive” thing now days to be able to go and see a DJ play only on “vinyl” and watch them for there skills in matching one record to another. Instead, its become common practice for the DJ to make a flawless set otherwise they are considered as rubbish. Even if they can rock a party, do you really want to watch a DJ who does nothing except press play and dance around a bit? Im sure we can all go to the local strip club and watch someone do the same thing who is a touch more attractive and show off there talent a little more dancing around to loud music…
The rise of the “lazy dj” and the “laptop producers” being the new wave of the future we have decided to go back to the basics to create an “only vinyl mixtape”. Recorded live and only using 2 turntables plus a mixer, without reaching for those tasty onboard FX or edit equipment. There will be mistakes, there will be long mixes but isn’t that half the fun of spinning and crate digging ( well, surfing the net these days) for music? We are embracing the new wave of technology as we think everyone should, but what we don’t like to see is an increasing amount of disk jockeys getting lazy at there craft. We personally would like DJ’s to play live and if so be it, make mistakes. (Everyone is human, have some fun!) In this mix tape we have gone all the way from some funk and scratching (yes, all the mixes are live including the scratching with no editing) through to some house and techno. We would appreciate any thoughts or errr thoughts on sharing! Enjoy the download links below, track listing is in the comments.
