Financial advisor Brodie Cobb continues to discuss entrepreneurship.
Question: You said entrepreneurs need to focus on the present. How can they do that and still build a long-term business?
While successful entrepreneurs tend to have results-oriented, problem-solving outlooks, they also surround themselves with people who are more adept at long-range business plans. The entrepreneur can then focus on his or her area of expertise while someone else handles financial planning, business structures, mergers and acquisitions.
Question: What qualities tend to sabotage potential entrepreneurs?
Fear and doubt. Starting a business is scary, but if entrepreneurs allow themselves to get bogged down by all the things beyond their control that could go wrong, they won’t have the energy to perfect the things that they can control. It’s essential that entrepreneurs focus, create manageable goals, and deal with the problems in front of them. The people who can do this become successful entrepreneurs. The people who can’t, never move beyond the daydream stage.
