Providence Hosts Struggling Albany Tonight at The Dunk

The Providence Bruins (3-5-0-0, 6 PTS, 5^th Atlantic) host the Albany Devils (2-5-0-1, 5 PTS, 5^th Northeast) this evening at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. This evening’s matchup marks the teams’ first of four regular season meetings and first at The Dunk. Albany swept the season series last year with a 4-0-0-0 record. After eight games, there is a three-way tie for the team lead in scoring. Max Sauvé (4g, 2a), Ryan Spooner (g, 5a) and Chris Bourque (6a) each have six points. Carter Camper (2g, 3a), last year’s leading scorer, and Jamie Tardif (2g, 3a) round out the top-five with five points each. Providence went 2-4-0-0 in October and was out-scored 13-20. However, the team is 1-1 thus far in November and has outscored their opponents 5-3. The Devils, who are in the midst of a three-game slide, sit at the bottom of the league with five points. Albany is coming off a 0-4 loss at the hands of Adirondack last Saturday. The night before, the Devils suffered a heartbreaking 1-2 shootout loss to Connecticut. The club went 2-4-0-0 in October and is currently winless in their two November contests.

On special teams, Providence ranks 5^th (22.5%) in the AHL on the power play and 26^th (76.5%) on the penalty kill. Albany ranks 29^th (5.7%) on the man advantage and 22^nd (78.9%) on the penalty kill.
