Tomorrow Final

I started writing a big long post about finally uploading my new short film Tomorrow, but decided I should just make a quick note and post the film.

Tomorrow Final from Gerry Donahoe on Vimeo.

I’m super proud of this little short film and it is most incredible to think that it was all shot in about 3 days with very little money.   As always I could not have done it without the support of my family and friends.

I am especially grateful for the wonderful work of my actors who worked under less than ideal conditions and were willing to let me try to get looping audio on their lunch breaks.  My DP, Guido, who generously gave his time, with so little resources, yet still lensed an amazing looking short film.  Bob Redpath who mixed the audio and gave me the most awesome sound mix that I’ve ever had.  Alex Cronkite who was so helpful taking care of this and that and making sure that things got done.  All of the people who showed up and played extras in the bar.  I am forever grateful, because filling a bar at 7 am is hard!  Gretchen Dalton who saved the day as my props super hero.  Grant Myles-Era who was so patient listening to me jibber jabber while coming up with an amazing, AMAZING score.  My neighbor Michelle, who generously let me shoot in her house, not once, but twice.  The owners of Figeroua Produce and Johnny’s who let me shoot in their places.  I couldn’t have done it without you.  Jason Hallows and Chris Lucas who patiently watched various cuts of the short and gave valuable feedback, without seeming to get annoyed.  Font consultant Dustin Stanton and Pierre Gonzalez who listened to me go on and on.

Craig Welzbacher who, at this point,  has been in the vast majority of my films.  It’s like he patiently waits for me to finally make it.  Sorry, Craig it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen for me.  I hope it happens for you, because I believe that you are so, so talented.

Lastly, I would say that I may not be winning at this whole film game, but I’m winning where it counts.  My wife and my kids are the most awesome thing.  They are all such supportive and wonderful people and when it comes down to a Sophies choice between having a wonderful family or being a successful filmmaker, I will pick my family every time.

I keep thinking that I will just stop, but then it just keeps going.  I’m sure I will make something again, but I don’t know when.  I’m super proud of this film.  Please watch it.

So much for a short post…
