I don’t know about you, but I really miss that show on HGTV “What You Get for the Money” where they highlighted homes in the same price ranges across different cities and states. I always thought this was a cool way to compare livability and options in different parts of the country. The most interesting things being the nuances in affordability, features and neighborhoods that existed between the homes that were highlighted.

As we started development on Doorsteps Swipe, we knew that it would be fun for people to be able to quickly compare and investigate homes not only for sale in the areas closest to them, but also across other parts of the country as well, as a way to really understand how far their money might go in other locations too.

As a team of self-diagnosed real estate addicts, we also thought it would be cool for others who shared our affinity for looking at houses to be able to quickly glance at listings in various areas, even if there was no intention to move at all!

The “manual location” setting in the search filters of Doorsteps Swipe is where you can enable the app to do its own version of “What You Get for the Money”. Simply add 3 cities you would like to compare and also set a price range. We like nature - so we might glance deep into the wilderness to compare South Lake Tahoe, CA and Taos, NM to Lake George, NY just so we could get some options for a summer vacation home. But maybe you’re a beach lover and would rather compare Malibu, CA and Naples, FL to Rehoboth Beach, DE as you think about finding a place to catch some sun. Either way - Doorsteps makes it easy and fun to do this.

So get out there and get swiping! There is no need to be ultra specific as you investigate listings. The key is exploring and getting inspired by what you find.
