Boyce Avenue & Cobus Potgieter–I Miss You (Originally by Blink-182)
While the cover isn’t what I’d call typical Cobus, it is a collaboration, and the drums remain classy throughout without detracting from a beautiful vocal part by Boyce Avenue’s Alejandro Manzano. One could argue that the drums and vocals are a little upbeat for a song which, in its original iteration, is rather sober; such criticism is valid, but I happen to love both versions for different reasons. The fill at 2:48 in the cover is just plain sexy, while I prefer Mark’s original, deeper vocal part. And I’m sorry if you’re a Blink fan–even more so than usual, since you’ve waded through this wall of mediocre text–but Tom’s singing in the original is something I’d gladly replace with Alejandro’s voice. His tone just isn’t sensitive enough for the lyrics and melody… or perhaps I just find his voice grating. *Please don’t kill me*
