Week/Weekend Recap
My work week was literally all of Thursday, and only 3 hours on Friday. Like any renovation project, there has been a lot of delays that are keeping our offices semi off limits. As much as I love being home, the growing amounts of issues, projects, emails and paperwork are making me anxious to be back at my desk.
So being off early on Friday meant a trip to Auntie TJ’s classroom. While I helped grade and enter stuff, Noah had other ideas. This boy is definitely at the stage where he wants to be in everything and anything.
Saturday morning was spent in our PJs till 10 and a mani/pedi date with myself. It was everything a lazy Saturday morning should be. Then it was off to John’s Incredible Pizza with Noah. While Matt and I probably had more fun eating at the buffet and playing the games, Noah enjoyed just watching everything. Not to mention, he was very excited about the ball we got with the tickets.
Lately it has felt like time is going too fast, so I am grateful for weekends like this one. Church time, nap time and family time is the perfect ending to our laid-back weekend.
Date Weekend Recap
It was our 3 year wedding anniversary last week, and we had yet to really celebrate it. The plan was actually to stay in Palm Springs Friday night, but the thought of not being home by Noah’s bedtime was enough to make me teary-eyed. Yeah apparently I am the big baby.
So mini dates throughout the whole weekend is what happened. We actually still went to Palm Spring for dinner on Friday night. The 45-minute drive was worth it for The Crab Pot. Plus a stop at the Cabazon outlets on the way home was perfect way to walk off all that food we ate. I am officially in love with two Michael Kors purses by the way! My birthday is a little less than a month a way, so I am hoping Matt was paying attention..lol.
We also pretty much overdosed on iced caramel macchiatos this weekend. Two nights in a row someone has done a Starbucks run while the other person puts Noah to bed. Then it Netflix for the rest of the night watching Bones and The Mindy Project. After always looking at the coffee mugs at Starbucks, we finally bought some. The goals is to only do k-cups on the weekdays.
One of the most surprising mini dates was Matt actually agreeing to get a pedicure with me. And while it might not have convince him to do it on a regular basis, at least he is not totally against the idea anymore.
Noah has been a particularly happy baby this weekend. Lots of gibberish and lots of laughing. It took us forever to get to the back of Pier 1 today because he had to charm every single female employee in the place.
We ended today with a walk in the park, and we found so many ladybugs in the plants. I told Matt these are probably the only bugs I can help Noah catch given that they are the only ones I would actually hold!
I am sure I would have enjoyed staying overnight in Palm Springs, but for now I think mini dates give me the best of both worlds. :)
Five for Friday and Saturday
My five for Friday is coming a little late, so this is my five for Friday and Saturday all rolled into one. :)
1. I can’t believe summer is almost gone. I still get to participate in the back-to-school in the sense that I get to take my sister clothes shopping. As a middle school teacher, she unfortunately has to experience the dread of going back-to-school. Friday morning was the one time a year that she let me tell her what to do! (I’ll take a pic tomorrow of one of the outfits we got!)
2. I am officially ready for colder weather. We headed to San Diego for our first overnight trip with Noah. Any excuse to get him in his little coat before it was too small was a plus! This is pretty much the only jacket that fits him somewhat!
3. I will never get tired of seafood! We have to pick carefully when we go to restaurants now that we have Noah, and so many of the restaurants were just too small and cramp. Joe’s Crab Shack’s deserted outdoor dining was perfect for all of us. Noah got to randomly scream and Matt and I didn’t have to deal with any dirty looks. ;)
4. One thing that makes me happiest is seeing Matt so happy. Going on the U.S. Midway was all about him.
5. Making time to get out more is a must. While I am a total homebody, getting out every once in awhile is nice too!
Weekend Recap
Friday: Early birthday celebrating happened. Delicious food at Rok N Fondue and good company made for a great time. JR even came home bearing birthday presents!
Saturday: Noah went to his first birthday party and he loved it. The boy is really too good at flirting with the ladies.
Sunday: Baby dedication, location scouting for photography, catching up with my cousin from Georgia and consuming all of TJ’s baking pretty much sums up my day.
It isn’t even 8PM yet, and I am done with everything due by midnight. That means my grandma like bedtime will happen.
Weekend Recap
Not too much in our weekend (we can thank my homework for that), but we did get a few breaks in. On Friday we were suppose to treat ourselves to a healthy dessert, but too many toppings were calling my name. By the way, Matt and I are totally opposite when it comes to topping choices!
I think after so much back and forth, California now thinks it is summer. The heat this weekend meant half naked baby time, and breaking out the cool shades.
Matt even humored me and drank lemonade out of mason jars with striped straws. Drinking these on our makeshift front porch, watching Mozzie chase bugs, wasn’t a bad way to end the weekend.
Two date nights in less than a week, best anniversary present we could ask for. Still crazy it has been 19 years together, with 14 of them married. ❤️
