The Land of Happy Endings
aka the most heartbreaking short comic ever! I’ve read a few of the old First and Second Doctor stories from the 1960s featured in TV Comic. In them the Doctor travels with two of his grandchildren: John and Gillian.
So it’s nice to see this 2003 comic from Doctor Who Magazine recognize that history. The first part of this comic is just a homage to the type of story-telling done back then, but then it takes a dark turn when we discover it’s really just the Doctor, alone in the TARDIS, dreaming of a simpler life. He has suffered and lost so much…seen so much death and destruction. He’s had so many people ripped away from him and here we see him…alone. I’ve made myself sad now.
