Last week while taking a walk around the Mont Royal area, we stumbled on the restaurant La Salle À Manger. I kept hearing great things about it from friends so we thought we’d check it out. Upon walking in I was immediately smitten with the decor (duh). Bare-bulb pendants are hung in rows against tin walls and the hexagon tile has an old-world charm to it. The whole look makes me think of an upscale industrial cafeteria.
I ordered the smoked mackerel sandwich with a latte. I was surprised at how good the coffee was! The photo of the sandwich may not look too impressive but the fish was super tender and full of flavour!
If you go for drinks, definitely try the “Sang d'encre” beer–dark and super creamy!
