Our wonderful flutist and Co-Artistic Director, Laura Vanek, has announced over the Summer her decision to step away from NOVO Ensemble.
Laura’s work with the ensemble was deeply significant, as she played an absolutely vital role on every single project NOVO presented over the past three years. We are incredibly thankful for all the time and energy she devoted to NOVO and wish her all the best in this new phase of her career!
Please see Laura’s farewell message below:
“Since NOVO Ensemble’s inception in 2011, I have had the great privilege of working with some fabulous musicians and collaborating on numerous amazing projects. As a founding member, my involvement with the ensemble has taught me so much. Despite all the hurdles and hard work it was an enriching and rewarding experience!
After much soul searching, I have come to the realization that it would be sensible to make the 2013/14 season my last. I’ll be leaving the group to devote more time to personal artistic endeavors. While I will treasure the friendships and experiences I enjoyed as a member of NOVO I am equally excited for the opportunities that await me in the next chapter of my artistic and professional life.
Remaining at the helm of NOVO Ensemble, Marina Hasselberg will continue to bring you innovative and inspiring programs focusing on Canadian new music.
It is with great excitement that I look forward to what the future holds for NOVO Ensemble.”
