Episode 16: The Bees and the Badasses, or “This Episode is Overrated”
Summer has officially started and we start of the season by taking advantage of it! This week, Brandon revisits Sonic Adventure DX for the GameCube. Sadly he realizes the game isn’t as good as he used to think it was all while building up an intense dislike of Big the Cat. Darnell celebrates his brother’s graduation by putting steak sauce on the steak he can’t finish. James’ week is one big tragedy after another, topped by his drinking the last of his good seven year old tea. And Matthew hangs out with his pals, but is stung by a malicious bee that was probably hired to take him out. (He got better though.) (So did the bee.)
This week, we talk about badasses. What makes a badass in fiction, and why do most of them have tragic back stories? Is a badass a badass because of his feats or their feats or because of their history? We end the night by ranting on the use of the word “overrated” that people keep using and how it probably doesn’t mean what you think it means.
Oh, and feel free to check out the webcomic Manly Guys Doing Manly Things that we mentioned, drawn by Kelly Turnbull, known by the internet as Coelasquid!
Music credits for the episode go to:
- As always, we credit Kevin McLeod for “Acid Jazz” , our impromptu theme music! His royalty free music is what helps podcasters like us avoid paying for songs with expensive copyrights.
- We credit the The OneUps for the chill tune ‘Summers’ from the Earthbound 'Bound Together’ album.
- This song is no bummer, dude! It’s from the BadAss: Boss Themes album!
- Ending it off, we present Cory Johnson’s 'Gerudo Valley’ arrangement! While it was cut from it, be sure to check out his amazing 'The Legend of Zelda’
