Here’s an attempt at an op-ed style illustration for the NYtimes, done for this summer’s illustration class at CCA with Justin Gabbard. Here’s the op-ed piece if you’d like to give it a read! “Reefer madness” was a sensational term used in anti-marijuana propaganda in the early 20th century. There’s a great explanation about the background behind why marijuana is illegal here. Highly recommend the read!

I wanted to draw the comparison between the sensationalist attitude of the 1920’s Prohibition of alcohol to the modern-day version of Prohibition (against pot) in this illustration. Here are the process shots. Enjoy!
