Why Windows 8 is better than MacOs 10.8
Hello tech people, how are you?
Last week was so full of fresh news, such as the ones seen in MWC2012 and now we are ready for CeBIT2012, from 6th to 10th March, in Hannover.
We all know Microsoft and Apple are ready again for the battle PC vs. Mac worlds, where Mac tries to eat part of market share to the “King” Windows.
Well, looking only to the trends, of course Mac is going to grow up, helped by the launch of products such as iPhone and iPad, which require iTunes for synchronization. And we can also say that in recent years, the Apple brand is a fashionable one.
But this year, or better, next year, this fashion could end, because Microsoft changed strategy and now boosts the brand new Windows 8, free for download for everyone who wants to try it. This is an unbelievable way of catching more customers as possible (and developers too), in order to present the new operating system in December 2012 with a ready set of softwares.
For me, Windows 8 could reject the assault of OS X family because the new OS has an high quality, but it needs the help of other companies, such as HP, DELL and Lenovo. Yes, Microsoft doesn’t produce own computers, but relies on other companies, differently from Apple.
The new ultrabooks are wonderful, but still expensive and with the same hardware of MacBook Air. The key of success would be the production of great ultrabooks or tables with improved hardware performance (better graphic cards - the HD3000 isn’t really nice - and SSD drives, because the HDD with 5400rpm are old), in order to make Windows 8 faster and better than MacOS X.
The weakness of these 2 O.S. is the hard drive: every one knows how slow could be in time Windows, after the installation of softwares, but also MacOs X is very slow with HDD 5400rpm. Apple cheats on this performace, making now new computers with a SSD (not good ones, Samsung-powered, compared with OCZ family). But if you run Windows also on an SSD, it is fast as MacOS.
For the UI usability, i find Metro UI and multi tasking improvements better than the still old MacOs interface and than the Mission Control system. The live tiles are as beautiful as in windows phone 7 and the synchronization of accounts with Live Service is fine, because if you change computer, you just have to make login in a new one and let the OS update everything again. This is possible in MacOS only if you set up Time Machine with an external hard drive.
In addiction, you can link together all the social network accounts, not only Twitter, and that is wonderful.
So, did you already download the Windows 8 ISO? What do you think about?
What do you think about MacOs 10.8?
