TODAY IN HISTORY: On April 16, 1948, the remains of President Manuel Roxas were brought to Manila to lie in state in the Ceremonial Room of Malacañan Palace.
This was the second wake for a president to be held in the Palace (after former President Manuel L. Quezon), and the first wake to be opened to the public.
