I’m really blown away at how typical its become to present these sort of pat justifications that entirely excuse the behavior of the one invading privacy, breaking the law and above all else being highly morally suspect.
I spent a while in the thread of the open carry article I posted earlier from Raw Story where a gun enthusiast spent ages trying to assert that bringing guns to a rally being held by victims of gun violence was somehow innocent and blameless. I’m seeing a lot of ethical free fall in arguments like this. In the blaming of victims and justifying of amoral behavior I’m not enjoying the implications.
