Jousting race in Turin on 21 February 1839 during the passage of His Imperial and Royal Highness Alexander, Grand Duke Imperial Hereditary Prince of Russia. The Teatro Regio had recently recieved a neo-classical renovation by Ernesto Melano and Pelagio Palagi that remained till 1861, when Angelo Moja gave the auditorium a more baroque appearance again.
