The Touro Law William Randolph Hearst Public Advocacy Center

Recently, Tom and Cynthia Rosicki of Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates, P.C., made a donation to Touro Law School to support a disabilities scholarship offered by the institution. Touro Law has a long history of supporting individuals in need in its community on Long Island, especially through the William Randolph Hearst Public Advocacy Center. No other center of its kind exists in the nation. It works with local nonprofit agencies and allows them to engage Touro Law students for a variety of advocacy services, as well as research work and client relations.

Through the center, the school’s students have the opportunity to meet their pro bono graduation requirements while also learning about problems facing their fellow community members and developing a sense of social responsibility. Since its inception, the center has generated a great deal of excitement in the community, and partnerships now exist with several nonprofit agencies, who receive furnished office space at the center. This model has proved so successful that Touro Law also maintains 20 “affiliate members” that are not housed at the center, but are similarly able to receive legal services provided by students.
