Without going in to deep its well known that Harry Smith’s Anthology of American Folk Music influenced everyone from Dylan to every major 1960s folk turned rock star - Garcia included. Smith would of been 91 today - so raise a glass of milk and salute a man who made it his life to document what could of been a load of lost American treasures.

Dance Yrself Clean’s Top 12 Eargasm Jams Of The Week…(9/9/11)

Well it’s the back to school, back to work edition of the DYC top eargasm jams of the week!  And although it’s a major bummer that the summer is over, seriously it is (I’m gonna pull a Jack Shepard from “Lost” and declare that “We have to go back”), at least we can always count on the music to get us through the hard times.  Hell music gets us through the wonderful times too.   

So really a lot of excellent jams and albums that can help us get through this moving from the Summer to the Fall and Winter seasons are out now or are coming out very soon.  Class Actress’ “Rapprocher” is amazing, Elizabeth Harper singing “Weekend” had to for sure get on the toppity top of this list.  And Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s “Hysterical” which (in my opinion) is one of the best LP’s in 2011 is a must listen.  With a lot of albums becoming available for us to stream this week, this was just the one that connected with me instantly, I highly recommend it. 

This week’s list is dominated by the Bandcamp-ers but it also includes a slew of excellent jams from acts like Class Actress, Fanfarlo and Lana Del Sexxxy Rey.  

 So let’s do this (there was no way I could keep this list at 10, it was impossible).  Some names on this list you’ll recognize and there are some you might not.  But like always I hope you find at least one new jam to obsess over!  Click on each eargasm to stream away to a land of delightful as fuck-ness!
