So… I got the email last night but I’ve been waiting until I accepted via email this morning to say anything but… I’ve been asked to work on a one-shot for a new comic, Dome 8, for Slipshine!!! This will be a single issue as part of their Artist Showcase, with the potential to be an ongoing series. More information shall come later, for now.. enjoy!
Dome 8
Janus is a confident, non-binary 30-some year old looking for a change of pace and new romantic opportunities. When Janus’ mother announced her upcoming retirement from managing the retail store on the Mars Colony’s Dome 8, they were eager to escape the over-crowding of Earth and make the 2 year journey to take the reins of the business. Life on the colony frontier is just the kind of excitement Janus was looking for!
While managing the day-to-day operations of the shop, Janus befriends the delivery employees servicing Dome 8: The chipper Rashid, an employee of SolEx, with the fastest fleet of cargo vessels in the Sol system, IF you can afford it; Cory, the terse, underpaid, and overworked IPS employee, stuck on the Mars Colony until their transport debt is paid; Ashley, a soft-spoken government postal employee who’s been working in the Domes since the Colony’s founding; and Esther, a plucky Mars-born running her own courier system within Dome 8.
But life in Dome 8 may not be all it’s cracked up to be – power outages, safety issues, and food shortages abound. The economic stratifications of Earth are amplified by the remoteness of Mars Colony, where quality of life varies from Dome to Dome. Well, frontier-living may not be glamorous, but it’s home now, and Janus is damn well going to make the most of it!! and perhaps make a new sexy friend or four. ;P
Dome 8 will be drawn on brown paper with black ink and white/colored highlights.
