When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.

I just told Andy about this movie after seeing his India photo. It’s about a group of retirees from England who choose to move to a retirement hotel in India (Jaipur) based on brochures they received. The hotel isn’t what they thought it would be and the story follows these people and how they adapt (some do it well, some don’t). I really enjoyed it*. It has a cast of veteran British actors including Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy among others.  It’s based on a book - These Foolish Things - by Deborah Moggach.

*I felt like the Indian characters were a bit too one-dimensional/stereotypical but not always (if you get what I mean) but I still recommend the movie because it wasn’t so much that it really bothered me (or maybe I’m overthinking that).
