The Amazing Trader Joe’s
What makes speciality grocery store Trader Joe’s exceptional is not only do they carry a vast variety of organic, healthy, local, and unique foods, they are also very affordable.
My final total at Trader Joe’s is almost always around half the price that I would have paid to buy the same items at similar stores like Whole Foods, or at regular chain grocery stores.
Trader Joe’s prides itself in not carrying any products that are genetically modified or artificially flavored, nor do they carry any items that contain Trans Fats or MSG. But don’t worry naughty food lovers - Trader Joe’s still offers several unbelievably delicious treats. Just try anything in my favorite section, baked goods - their fresh made pies, cakes, and cookies make the food of the gods look paltry by comparison.
Trader Joe’s also offers a tasty spread of on-the-go meals, such as sushi, wraps, and salads, as well as free daily samples of certain foods and coffees (many locations even have free wine tastings).
Due to the store’s smaller size and immense popularity, it can get pretty crowded, but the atmosphere still manages to always be inviting and comfortable. I attribute this to their unmatched customer service. Everyone is well informed about every product, as well as accommodating. Employees will always go out of their way to help you, including letting you know when your favorite goodies will be back in stock if they’re sold out.
So, what’s next? Though they originated in California, Trader Joe’s now has locations across 29 states, including several right here in Northern Virginia. But before you head out to your local branch, check out Cooking with Trader Joe’s, a great recipe website for all things Trader Joe’s. The Arugula Pesto Pasta and the Orange Creamsicle Smoothie are two of my favorites and just as mouth-watering as they sound.
